Dr William Smith, CEO of the Alliance for Multispecialty Research, joined Dr Tobler to discuss the study his group is working on developing a vaccine for Covid-19.
Dr Smith says this is a “phase one” study progressing in Kansas City.
“The first thing we look for are any kind of severe systemic reaction, allergic reaction. If there is some compound in the vaccine that causes allergic reaction that we might not have seen in the pre-clinical and animal testing. That’s the first thing,” the study looks for says Dr Smith. He says they pay close attention to injection site reactions, fever, headache, “any kind of symptoms that the vaccine itself might have caused.”
