William B. Smith, M.D., F.A.C.C., C.P.I – Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Bill Smith is the Founder, President, and Principal Investigator of VRG and NOCCR, the AMR sites in New Orleans and Knoxville. He was also one of the founders of AMR. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Nephrology, and Cardiology. He has been involved in greater than 1875 clinical trials over the past 35 years. Dr. Smith is a frequent lecturer and author and publishes extensively in clinical and scientific journals. He has been involved in management of NOCCR since 1987 and oversaw its relocation and rebuilding in Knoxville, TN after Hurricane Katrina.
Terry L. Poling, M.D., D.A.B.F.M., F.A.A.F.P., C.P.I. – President
Dr. Terry Poling is board certified and started after serving in the Air Force as a Flight Surgeon. He began conducting clinical research trials in 1991. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Poling founded Heartland Research Associates in 1994 and has been involved in 1235 trials. Heartland Research Associates joined AMR in 2000. Dr. Poling has served as the President of the Kansas Medical Society and currently is Chairman of the Kansas AMA delegation. He also has the role as an Investigator mentor which has provided the ability and success to growth additional sites / locations within the surrounding Wichita area. He also serves as President of ProviDRs care, a preferred provider organization of over 7500 providers.
Jeffrey B. Rosen, MD, DABFP, FAAFP – Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Jeffrey Rosen is the Medical Director of Clinical Research of South Florida. He has been conducting clinical research for 34 years and has been involved in more than 800 clinical trials. Dr. Rosen is a founding member of AMR and is on the Leadership Counsel for the Society for Clinical Research Sites. He has been a speaker at many research conferences and for several pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Rosen’s articles have been published in various medical journals. He is an associate clinical professor of Family Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Rosen is a Board Certified family practitioner and the Medical Director of Prime Care of Coral Gables, a primary care group practice adjacent to CRSF.
Kathy Stoddard RN, CCRC – Chief Operating Officer
Kathy Stoddard joined AMR as its Chief Operating Officer in May of 2016. In her current role, Kathy guides the overall clinical operations and business functions supporting investigators, clinical research coordinators and staff for AMR. She spent the prior 4 years as a Vice President for another multi-site research network, where she gained substantial experience in managing research across multiple sites and states. Prior to that, she worked for 15 years as the Director of Research for Heartland Research Associates, the Wichita based group of sites that are now part of AMR.
Scott Stone – Chief Financial Officer
For nearly two decades, Mr. Stone has served in senior executive roles, primarily as a Chief Financial Officer or Chief Operating Officer. A Certified Public Accountant, he has broad and deep experience working with both public and private companies across an array of industries, including technology, healthcare, telecommunications and manufacturing. In addition to financial and operational management, his experience includes developing and executing capital strategies, turnarounds and restructuring, mergers, divestitures, and acquisitions, negotiations with creditors, and managing investor relationships. Mr. Stone has worked with the Fortune 50, private equity-backed companies, and closely held lower middle market enterprises. He began his career with KPMG as a member of the audit staff. He earned a Masters of Professional Accountancy and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Matthew Smith – Corporate Controller
Matthew Smith has extensive experience as an accounting and assurance professional and has served numerous clients across industries as diverse as financial services, hotel and hospitality management, manufacturing, healthcare and aviation. As a Certified Public Accountant, he has worked to craft internal controls for both public and non-public clients, testing the design, implementation and operating effectiveness. Mr. Smith began his career at PwC where he supervised core audit teams for financial services and capital market clients. He graduated from The University of Mississippi with a Masters in Professional Accounting and a Bachelor of Accounting and holds a Series 79 designation.
